Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Welcome to Fixhora. We are a hyperlocal task marketplace connecting people who need help with everyday tasks to verified local helpers in Dehradun and Rishikesh. This Privacy Policy explains how Fixhora ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application.
By using the Fixhora app, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use our services.
Our contact email is contact@fixhora.com. We are happy to answer any questions you have about this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide our service. This includes:
- Phone number — used exclusively for login and account verification via OTP (One-Time Password). We do not share your phone number with any third party.
- Name — the display name you provide during onboarding, shown to the other party in a task (e.g., a helper sees the task poster's name and vice versa).
- Profile photo — a photo you upload during onboarding, stored on AWS S3. This photo is shown to the other party in any task you are involved in.
- Location — we detect whether you are in Dehradun or Rishikesh for service eligibility. When you pin a task on the map, the precise coordinates (latitude and longitude) of that task pin are stored so a helper can reach the location.
- Identity verification (KYC) documents — to verify helpers are real people, we collect photos of your Aadhaar card (front and back) and a short selfie video. This information is used only for identity verification and safety, is stored securely, and is not shown publicly.
- Voice call recordings — in-app voice calls are recorded for safety and quality. Both parties are notified before the call. Recordings are stored securely and used only for safety and dispute resolution.
- Chat messages — messages you exchange with the other party in a task are stored so the conversation is available to both of you.
- Task descriptions and details — the content you write when posting a task, including title, description, category, and any task-related text.
- Task photos — photos you optionally attach to a task, uploaded to AWS S3 and accessible via a URL for task visibility.
- Device push notification token — stored to send you task updates, helper assignment notifications, and in-app chat messages.
- App usage data and crash diagnostics — basic logs of how you interact with the app (e.g., tasks posted, tasks accepted, messages sent) and crash/diagnostic reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) to help us fix bugs and improve the service. This data is not linked to advertising profiles.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect strictly to provide and improve the Fixhora service:
- Account creation and authentication — your phone number is used to verify your identity via OTP during login or sign-up.
- Matching users with helpers — your name, profile photo, task details, and city-level location are used to display your task or profile to the right people.
- Push notifications — we use your device token to send you real-time updates about task status, helper assignment, and in-app messages. You can disable notifications in your phone's settings at any time.
- Service improvement — aggregated usage data helps us understand how the app is used so we can fix bugs and improve features. This data does not identify you individually.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the Fixhora service.
3. Location Data
Fixhora currently serves Dehradun and Rishikesh only. We collect your city-level location to verify you are within our service area.
When you use the in-app map picker to pin your task location, your device's GPS is used temporarily to show your position on the map. Precise GPS coordinates are used only for the duration of the map interaction and are not stored on our servers beyond what is necessary to record the task pin location. The task pin coordinates (latitude and longitude) are stored only to allow helpers to navigate to the task location and are not used for any other purpose.
We do not track your location continuously or in the background.
4. Phone Number & Authentication
Your phone number is used solely for account login and verification through our OTP system, powered by Firebase Authentication. We do not share, sell, or disclose your phone number to any third party, including helpers on the platform. Your phone number is never displayed in the app to other users.
5. Photos and Uploaded Files
Photos you upload — whether as a profile photo or as task-related images — are stored on Amazon Web Services S3 in the Mumbai region (ap-south-1). Task photos are accessible via a publicly readable URL so that both parties in a task can view them within the app.
Profile photos are displayed to the other party involved in a task (the task poster sees the helper's photo; the helper sees the poster's photo). They are not shared with anyone else or used for any other purpose.
If you delete your account, we will delete your profile photo and disassociate your task photos from your identity.
6. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Between task parties — when a helper accepts your task, both parties can see each other's name and profile photo within the task detail view. The task description and location are visible to the helper. This sharing is necessary for the service to work.
- AWS infrastructure — your data is stored and processed on AWS servers. AWS acts as a data processor under our instructions.
- Firebase Authentication — your phone number is processed by Firebase (Google) for OTP verification. Firebase processes this under its own privacy policy.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose your information if required by law, a court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
7. Data Storage and Security
All Fixhora user data is stored on AWS servers located in Mumbai, India (region: ap-south-1). We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no system is perfectly secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique phone number and to report any suspicious activity to contact@fixhora.com.
8. Push Notifications
We store your device's push notification token to send you timely updates about your tasks and messages. These notifications include: task accepted by a helper, new messages in task chat, and task status changes.
You can disable push notifications at any time through your phone's notification settings. Disabling notifications will not affect your ability to use the app, though you may miss real-time updates.
9. Identity Verification (KYC) & Call Recordings
Helpers must verify their identity before offering services. For this we collect photos of your Aadhaar card and a short selfie video. This sensitive data is used solely to confirm you are a real person and to keep the platform safe. It is stored securely on AWS S3 (Mumbai region), is access-controlled, and is reviewed only by authorised Fixhora staff. It is never shown to other users or used for advertising.
In-app voice calls between a poster and a helper are recorded for safety, quality, and dispute resolution. Both parties are clearly notified that the call is being recorded before it begins. Recordings are stored securely and are not shared publicly.
Retention for safety and legal compliance: to prevent fraud and abuse and to comply with the law, your identity-verification documents (Aadhaar photos and selfie video) and basic identity details may be retained even after you delete your account. This allows us to respond to safety incidents, fraud investigations, and lawful requests. This retention is limited to what is necessary for those purposes.
10. Your Rights and Account Deletion
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. To delete your Fixhora account and associated data, either use the in-app option:
Profile → Settings → Delete Account
or request deletion from the web at fixhora.com/delete-account.
When you delete your account, we remove your public profile: your display name is replaced with "Deleted User", your profile photo is deleted, and your phone number is released so you can register a fresh account in future. You are signed out and can no longer log into the deleted account. Your live tasks are cancelled and your open conversations are closed.
For the safety of others and to prevent fraud and abuse, some data is retained rather than erased: (a) your past chat conversations are kept so the other party retains their record of your interaction, with your name shown as "Deleted User", and the other person is informed that you deleted your account; and (b) as described in Section 9, your identity-verification (KYC) documents and minimal identity details are retained for fraud prevention, safety, and legal compliance — this also lets us identify a previously-removed bad actor if they attempt to rejoin. Ratings and historical task records may be retained in an anonymised form. Retained data is access-controlled and used only for these safety, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes.
If you wish to request a copy of your data or need assistance with deletion, email us at contact@fixhora.com.
11. Age Requirement
Fixhora is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at contact@fixhora.com and we will promptly delete the account.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification. The updated policy will also be available at fixhora.com/privacy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of the app after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
